# Performance mode

> Optimize the app's UI and response handling for a smooth, lag-free experience on lower-end devices.

Performance Mode optimizes the application's user interface and response handling to ensure a smooth, lag-free experience on lower-end devices or older hardware.

## Key optimizations

When Performance Mode is enabled, LMSA makes the following changes:

* **Streaming disabled:** AI responses load and appear all at once rather than word-by-word. This significantly reduces continuous DOM layout calculations and rendering updates.
* **Visual simplification:** Disables CSS animations, transitions, backdrop blur filters, and shadows across all menus, modals, and tooltips.
* **Thinking output lock:** Automatically unchecks and disables the **Hide Thinking** setting to conserve device processing resources.

## Smart auto-enable

LMSA automatically detects devices with limited hardware resources (fewer than 6 CPU cores and less than 4GB of RAM) and enables Performance Mode by default.

If auto-enabled, you can turn it off manually in **Settings > Device and Privacy**, though you may experience slower UI animations or interface lag.

## How to enable or disable manually

**1. Open Settings**

Open the sidebar and tap **Settings**.

**2. Go to Device and Privacy**

Navigate to the **Device and Privacy** tab.

**3. Toggle Performance Mode**

Find **Performance Mode** and toggle it on or off as needed.
